Effective June 12, 2025, FC Regina has officially adopted PurpleAir as our primary source for monitoring air quality conditions. After reviewing the reliability and frequency of updates from various sources over the past year, we found that both The Weather Network and Government of Canada weather services did not update frequently enough to support timely game-time decisions.
PurpleAir provides real-time, localized data, which allows referees, coaches, and families to make more informed decisions based on the air quality at or near their specific field locations. PurpleAir monitors will be used at Mosaic Stadium, as it is centrally located and represents a fair assessment of general city conditions.
We will stop play when the AQHI reaches level 7 or higher. Notifications will be communicated at 3:30PM on weekdays during regular FCR office hours, additional communications during weekends are subject to the conditions.
Games are only cancelled ahead of the game time with confirmation and notification from the FC Regina office. All youth teams will receive a notification via Team Snap once games are confirmed by FCR Office as cancelled, all adult teams will receive a notification via email and team snap regarding game cancellations.
We would like to remind all families that youth player participation remains optional during poor air quality conditions. Athletes and their families may choose to opt out of training or games without any penalty or repercussions.
Important for Coaches:
If FC Regina has cancelled training or games due to air quality and a coach proceeds independently, insurance coverage is void, and coaching staff may be held personally liable. Always consult club decisions and check PurpleAir before proceeding with any soccer activities.
